I am perpetually curious and crave adventure. Though I am about as introverted as they come, I love people. I like to learn about people, find out who they really are rather than who they allow people to think they are. I enjoy figuring out how they came to be who they are. I’m not sure if this is an art, a science, or just a gift, but it drives me. The more I learn about others, the more I realize about myself.
I’ve collected many stories throughout my life. Some are pretty horrifying and some are pretty terrific. These stories each have a bit to do with the person I am today. They are the filters through which I see and interpret the world. I’m thankful that I have so many different filters because it allows me to identify and empathize with countless others on a level I wouldn’t otherwise be able to. This has brought meaning to my life.
I like to look at life through a lens of possibility and potential, rather than victimization and defeat. I like to find what works rather than dwell on what doesn’t. Strength and courage, tenacity, adventure, resiliency, compassion, empathy, kindness… these are words I work to mirror every day. And it gives me purpose.
I like being me. Sometimes it’s pretty challenging, but that’s right up my alley.
